November wedding - tights/hose/shoes??

Anonymous
I am going to a wedding in November and have three dress options - one is a deep berry color, one is black and one is navy. I'm NOT into fashion and what is confusing me lately is when to wear tights vs hose and what color with what shoes. If wearing tights, what color and textured or untextured?? I wore the navy dress last month with nude heels, but it will be too cold in November. Help! Thanks

I would say that if you're wearing the berry dress, pair it with black tights and black shoes (and maybe some black accessories to bring it all together!). Hose might be better for the other two - black shoes would be fine with the black dress, and I don't see why you couldn't wear the nude shoes (particularly if closed toe) with the navy.

For tights - I think it doesn't really matter textured vs untextured but if the dress is textured too, texture+texture might be a bit too much.

Thank you! Now what color hose with a blue dress and nude closed toed heels? Blue? I thought nude hose was out except for in the workplace, but like I said I don't know fashion.

Nude hose is sort of out but for a November wedding I think it's ok personally (and that's what I would wear with the blue dress). Otherwise, I'd brave it with bare legs.

Blue dress plus nude heels requires either nude hose or bare legs. You can probably find "fancy" nude hose - something with a back seam or little rhinestones - to dress it up if you'd like.

And personally, I wouldn't wear tights to a wedding at all. Hose, yes, tights, no.

Why are all the "formal" type dresses sleeveless/strapless? Do they think women don't get cold in the winter? I've never seen nice dresses to wear to things like weddings where the dress had long sleeves and was warm. I get so cold in the venues that I always have to put a coat or sweater on. What's the point of wearing a nice dress?

This is good advice. I would wear blue or berry with pewter shoes and a "fancy" nudish hose. For instance, I have these whisper thin smoky colored hose with a light stripe design (like a braid stripe). I would wear those with a blue dress. I also have flesh-toned fishnets. So subtle! But not nude hose! Good luck.

OP I don't think nude heels work with tights. I think nude heels are more of a spring/summer type shoe.

Blue dress for me would mean brown or black tights and brown or black shoes.

Generally agree with this, but the dress is navy, right? Not blue?

Not the OP, but I have the same question for an outdoor wedding next weekend in the blue ridge. Funny enough, I am wearing a berry/eggplant colored dress (and for the record, it has no sleeves so I'm topping it with a black 3/4 sleeve dressy cardigan).

Also wondering what to put on my legs & feet! Nude hose are out, I get it.

Shoes are hard too because this will be outside and who knows how wet/dry/etc the ground will be.

I'm thinking black heels w/ rubber soles and black hose. But there are so many pretty/textured tights out there. Also wondering if I need to go find myself some better shoes.

Dress does have texture, FWIW.

Yes, navy, sorry

I'd love to help but you'd have to post a pic. I think eggplant and black go well together. I like patterned tights. Just depends on the dress style.

Navy doesn't go with black then. Brown and gray are nice colors

^^This was my answer.
I don't think nude hose is out at all. It's just not ideal for these winter colors. Textured or plain tights are great, and there are "tights" that are very very thin. More like textured hose. Those would be more appropriate for a wedding with a dressier dress. I think people are just opposed to those thick opaque tights for this event.
