ISIS beheadings

This is not about religion or politics -- why are those men just kneeling there waiting to be executed, letting that guy on his sandy soapbox give his speeches? I would be spitting at them, kicking them in the shins and shouting "WE WILL PREVAIL IN THE END NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU MURDER!"

Maybe they're not aware their fellow captives have already been beheaded before them. Maybe they take them out to practice a few times before the actual beheading and they're not sure this one is the one. Otherwise I can't imagine just kneeling stoically like that.

No, they aren't drugged. But they have been through many "mock" executions before where they thought they were going to be killed and ultimately weren't. It is just so horrific.

I am in awe that these men have the capacity to look stoic. I would be shaking and crying. My heart aches for their families.

Unless you were held captive for months, tortured, and gone through "mock" executions, you'd have no idea how you'd react.

(Also, anyone who tried to resist would probably have just been shot and the footage would never make it the wider world. Taping the beheadings are yet another tool of the terrorists.)

OP, please show more compassion for these poor men and their grieving families. And don't judge them on how they spent their last few moments alive. It's extremely disrespectful.

This is so easy for you to say from the comfort of your living room couch. You weren't held captive for years and tortured consistently. I think it would be pretty easy for the murderers to control their victims -- they could tell them, if you don't say this, I'm going to torture you, torture your friend right here. You want me to kill him instead, right now?

The victims' families know they were forced to say these things. It's so sad. I wish their families can find peace eventually and these jihadists will see justice.

I've wondered about this too. Not in a way that's critical of the victim at all, but just ... how could they do it? WEre they drugged? etc.

OP I'm saddened by the insensitivity and naivety of your post.

These people have been captured, tortured, mentally and physically abused. You have no idea of what could be going on in their minds or around them. What if they said, we will cut off each of your fingers or gauge out your eyeballs BEFORE we behead you if you don't cooperate? What if they've threatened to torture other captives in front of them? What if they are quite frankly in an state of shock or depression?

To question why someone is not acting in the way you think they should before there impending death is completely narcissistic.

Maybe there were additional men with automatic weapons pointed at them just behind the camera. Who knows!

They are probably severely beaten and tortured if they don't do as they are told every time. So this would be among the many things they are told to do and they know what happens if they don't.

Oh please. Another idiotic DCUM post about narcissism. This is the OP and my questions are perfectly valid. You could have simply answered with your opinion. Then I would have responded, "Hm, I didn't think of it that way." But no.
