I don't remember this case making national news. Maybe some of you do.

I can remember several local instances of people getting killed by ovetzealous cops. What's your point? |
My point is this - I don't recall this incident making national news. Is this boy's life any less significant? |
Did anybody organize protests? Did the protests turn into looting and riots which then brought on a heavily militarized police response? You need to start with protests to get in the news. |
What happened to the police officer? |
Yes, did the parents speak out? We're the parents illegal immigrants and too afraid to bring attention to themselves and other children. Did the parents sue, win some money, and move back home? S may questions PP. you need to provide more facts. |
So many questions |
No, it's not any less significant. At least this kid had what was perceivable as an actual weapon and was ordered to drop it. That's when he turned, gun pointed at the officers, and he was shot. It's not the first time that's occurred and that's why all the tips on toy guns are supposed to be bright orange. |
very sad |
It happens all the time. I think the protests depend on the city and its people. |
If this is the one I'm thinking of, it did make national news. The big difference (other than the protests) is that people understood more so why this happened vs a completely unarmed person. This teen had what looked like a weapon, cops yelled to him first, and he turned around with fake weapon pointed at cops. Cops fired.
People were a lot more understanding of how that situation results in the death of a young teen vs the killing of an unarmed teen who posed no threat to the cops. |
I don't remember this at all. But his weapons weren't real, which makes the situation so tragic. |
Pp here. I totally agree with you. However, I think people were more sympathetic to the cops (and I do understand this) because they appeared to follow the right steps and when a gun was pointed at them, they couldn't tell it was fake and reacted by shooting him. Terribly tragic but I also remember people not having much sympathy for the teen since he wasn't totally innocent in the whole misunderstanding. Vs say being harassed by cops and the situation getting out of control. |
