There's not supposed to be, but stranger things have happened (Big Little Lies). I don't think Expats did nearly as well though, so I'd assume no.

I finished it a few weeks ago.

I like it, but I think I might have liked it just as much without the missing kid story. Kidman was good in this, but also miscast. No chemistry with the guy that played her husband and she's far too old to be playing the mom of a 4 year old.

I also felt unsatisfied with the Essie storyline in some way, admittedly based on my own personal experience. I really identified with the part at the beginning where Kidman says something like Essie does everything for the kids and mom has to come in and be the bad guy. Very true in my experience, and it makes the relationship complicated.

I liked the Hillary character, even though she unloaded emotionally on her helper. Her backstory was really sad.
