I am 45 and I have tons of skin tags all over my neck.
Now that the weather where I live at is getting warmer and I am starting to wear short sleeves and tank tops, my neck is being exposed and my skin tags look terrible. I feel like they age me twenty years. And it seems they multiply every summer too. I have noticed they get worse the more weight I have gained. Does weight have anything to do with them or is it just age? And it there some type of OTC cream or ointment, etc. I can purchase at the drugstore to get rid of them? |
I don't think weight is related - it's age. Just go to a derm and ask to have them removed. It's really easy. Dr Vincenzo Giannelli in DC did mine. Might get a few more taken off soon.
Alternatively, you can wrap thread around them and have them fall off! Just google it. |
I just read that castor oil can remove them, but have no personal experience. |
I have dozens of almost flat tiny brown spots on my neck and shoulders. Not freckles. Not moles. I'm wondering now if they are skin tags. |
There are OTC products that claim to remove them. Just google & see if any have reviews from sites like Amazon or Drugstore.com |
My coworker just has hers removed at the dermatologist. She said she went after work, and was in and out in 30 minutes. There was some reddening the next day - looked like she scratched her neck - but that was over a week ago and I don't notice anything, skin looks just like the rest of her body...maybe you should schedule a consult. I think it was layered or otherwise cut off. She had a few |

No, skin tags are not flat.
And yes, they are mostly caused by weight gain. |
I got mine during pregnancy, when I gained over 50lbs. |
Thanks. |
Skin tags are often caused by friction - found in places where the skin rubs together (armpit, under breasts, thighs/pubic area).
But not always. A very obese person may have them on rolls on the neck/shoulder, but skin tags can be found anywhere - they're just more common where skin rubs together. |
Skin tags ARE related to weight. Heavier people are more prone to skin tags. As for prevention, I don't know. As for cures, just get them frozen off by your dermatologist. |
I got them when I gained weight.
So glad I lost the weight, this is one of many reasons. |
Get it cut off. I had one that kept getting bigger and hurt. The cutting was painful for a few minutes but I wish I had done it sooner. |
Try apple cider vinegar on one and see if you get good results.
Google for info, but it worked for me. |
