I had posted earlier - I am the mom with the 8 month old. We have seen many specialists and still no light at the end of the tunnel. My LO is failure to thrive again. Hardly any solid intake and won't take hypoallergenic formulas. We even tried the toddler versions. Regular formulas cause issues due to MPI. But takes BM like a champ. My old BM (had a little saved in the freezer) when I was consuming dairy is now OK per doc as the allergy to milk proteins has reduced a little. I got a donation from a friend but it seems like we are living day to day.
We are scheduled to get an endoscopy and get the tube next week. Anything you can spare to tide us over would be appreciated. I can provide compensation as well. Please email me or post here. succor4me@yahoo.com |
So sorry, OP! I wish I had it to give you. My baby had failure to thrive and is now a pretty sturdy almost 9 year old. |
Check out Eats on Feets DC on Facebook. |
I wish I had some left over to give you, OP! Stay strong. Best wishes for your little one. Mine was born a preemie and was on the verge of failure to thrive. Hugs. |
Another Sorry - I truly wish I had BM to donate. I know it does not seem like it now but this too shall pass. |
I have about 30 3 ounce bottles if you are interested, however they are from Dec and January. I don't know how long frozen milk lasts but you can have it for free if you want it. I don't drink milk but I do eat eggs. |
I hesitate to offer this because I wasn't going to give it to my own child. I EPd while traveling out of the country for 4 days in November. I kept the milk in the hotel fridge, which I thought was of questionable temperature. The milk was cold throughout transit and has been frozen solid since then -- but the 4 days in a sketchy fridge caused my LC to suggest dumping it. I kept it for "reassurance" until my child was on cow's milk but was just about to toss it.
I guess you could always thaw it and see how it smelled? Maybe others will chime in as to whether it's safe to use. But if you want it, it's yours; I'm in Fairfax. I exercised no diet restrictions while pumping. |
I would personally be leery of that milk. Of course it's OP's call. OP, I will post on a mom's yahoo group for my area and hope you get help soon. |
Contact your local la leche league. |
ditto or check with the Breastfeeding Center in DC regarding how to find a breast milk "bank" |
I wish I could help but I am nursing a toddler now and have no frozen stash. I hope that some donations come through for you, though I hope that they are not motivated by compensation as that seems ethically dubious to me. |
OP, I bumped the thread a woman with an 11,000 oz stash posted last month. Hopefully she is still around and can help you out!
I would love to donate but am not local. Please update if you've had success getting milk. Really pulling for you and your LO! |
Hi op,
Let me know how much you need. I had just started pump weaning, but could start again. Where are you located? |
You and all the PPs are awesome. Absolutely awesome. ![]() (Not OP) |
Can you do soy formula (I know it's not ideal, but can you try it?). Or maybe try CVS Gentle - it's made by PBM, so it's different than the other brands. It was like our 5th or 6th try and it worked for us.
I would focus equally, if not MORE, on food. At 8 months, food should be the primary source of nutrition. What solids have you tried? At 3 months, we started with rice cereal, then added wheat cereal or oatmeal. By 6 months, DD was full on eating food (plus 2 or 3 bottles a day in between meals), but she was picky about the brand. There is a big difference between brown-ish Gerber carrots and homemade or Earth's Best. I pureed a lot of food in the baby bullet - the options are endless, so please try it. DD liked carrots, peas, chicken and rice, and macaroni with a little parmesean and teeny but of tomato. The Giant brand baby food is great (Beechnut)- it's the only brand of baby food that has something other than veggies that tastes good IMO. Good Luck! |
