Need someone good with an anxious child who is mildly on the spectrum. Child is cooperative and well-behaved, but tongue sometimes moves during oral exam which apparently one Dr. thought was grounds for trying laughing gas. Another thought he was delightful to examine and definitely did not need anything for the exam. She said he was better behaved then some of her NT kids of the same age, BUT if child ever has cavity will need GENERAL ANAESTHESIA???!!! because she doesn't like to risk having a SN move about?!

Just wanted to add that I have seen the old threads, but things change. I once recommended Dr. Niloo, but then she started overbooking and our favorite staff member seemed to no longer be there. Dr. N seemed stressed out and harried so whereas before she was calming to him, just seeing her stressed out made him stressed and he didn't want to go back anymore.

Dr. Edward Nelson in Arlington. He is a pediatric dentist, a surgeon and does orthodontics. Fabulous. He is patient, gentle and kind. His staff is great too, if your child has some special needs, give them a head sup and they will accommodate. My younger son did have to go under general anesthesia for several things, but he was not a good patient at the time. Although he does not participate in many insurance company plans, his prices are reasonable.

We use Dr. Reardon in Arlington (closest to Ballston metro), here: http://www.drreardon.com/ . We started with her because she made an effort to go visit the pre-k classes in our daycare and to talk with the kids about oral health and my kids always talked about how fun her visits were. My boys (both ADHD, one with significant anxiety) have been going to her for years now, and she and her staff always handle things well with them. She is co-located with a dentist who sees adults (Dr. Williams) and I see Dr. Williams for myself, I think it helps my boys to see that we all go to the same dentist office.
