Is there a good explanatory book for DC to read to explain puberty, body changes, etc.? Of course DH and I can explain, but I think it would be better to at least start with a book. |
Depending on age:
It's Not the Stork It's So Amazing It's Perfectly Normal all by Robie Harris |
Changing Bodies, Changing Lives by Ruth Bell |
The American Girl series has a book called "The Care and Keeping of You" for girls.
Here's one that gets good reviews for boys: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1933662743 |
+1. My kids and I read "It's Not the Stork" together. When my eldest was older (9, I think), we gave him "It's So Amazing." Haven't moved up to It's Perfectly Normal yet, but certainly might do so in future years. |

I agree with all of the above.
My mom is a health (sex ed) teacher and she gave me Our Bodies, Ourselves when I was a kid. It was a great book for me to read on my own when I was about 12-13. |
We've been happy with this series, too. Although, I've got a seven year old now looking for the beginnings of his mustache, who "can't wait til I have puberty!" Even though he knows it's a few years off. ![]() |
These are all GREAT! |
Look through them yourself at the library. Books have different approaches, some which you may not agree with. |
OP here-thanks so much for these titles!

+1 for the girl book. And thanks for the boy book recommendation, I needed to look into finding one for our son. |
