Could anyone recommend a psychologist they have used to get their child tested for WISC IV? I am looking for one that is warm and has great skills working with children, making them comfortable. My child does much better in a warm and caring environment, and might take him some time to relax if he finds the person too serious. In the Northern Virginia area would be great, but if you have one that you strongly recommend in the DC metro area, I would love to hear that. |

Could you please tell me a little bit about your experience with Diana Dahlgren? |
Here's a list of "good with shy kids" testers (compiled from posts here):

We have experience with Dahlgren. She is fine but can be rather pushy and definitely has her biases (which I guess all humans do). It's hard to judge without actually comparing them. All in all, she was fine. |

We had 2 experiences with Diana Dahlgren. 1 boy and 1 girl - twins. She was AWESOME! |
We had a horrible experience with Diana Dahlgren. Go to someone else. Don't waste your money. |
Virginia Smith has retired. |

Said by someone who didn't get the results they wanted. |
I like Paige Fegan at Family First Psychological Services in Vienna - www.familyfirstva.com. She's great at building a rapport with kids. She's young, so she may not be as experienced in the ways of AAP as people say Diana Dahlgren is. On the other hand, since she doesn't seem to be biased towards helping you get your kid into AAP, her assessments are clear and objective.

We also had a great experience with Dr. Paige Fegan at Family First. Very warm and connected with our shy child instantly. Gave helpful feedback. |
She did the WISC as part of a neuropsych eval, but we had a great experience with Dr. Laura Wilding in Vienna. |
Same experience here. |
