Did you have to wean to get pregnant?

I am still nursing 2x/day and have my period back, but my cycles seem to be all over the place and I have had several unsuccessful months of TTC... did you have success trying for #2 (or more...) while still nursing or did you notice a big change in your cycle once you completely weaned?

The month after I weaned I was pregnant with my second. I know they say you don't have to, and some people even nurse while pregnant but we tried for 6 months with no luck, I weaned and bam I was pregnant.

I didn't get my period back until after I weaned DS completely at 13 months...got it almost three weeks after the last nursing session. Cycles have been regular for 2 months since then, but still unsuccessful at TTC. I'm also wondering how long it took others. I'm a little older (36) but got pregnant on the first cycle of ttc last time.

+1 Don't know if the weaning was necessary but that's the way it happened.

I finally got my period back at 11 months while still nursing. I did not have to wean to get pg. We only ttc'd about 2 months before I got pg. I used the clear blue fertility monitor, and that made the difference for us.

Took 6 cycles when nursing 1x per day but I got pregnant. All other times took 1-2 cycles.

I've been nursing or pregnant full time for 5 years now. I have two kids, the youngest is 18 months. So, no, I did not have to wean and was nursing very regularly when I got pregnant (twice, the first was a miscarriage). period returned at 5 and 7 months despite exclusive breastfeeding.

I did not wean but was only nursing 1x per day. I actually did not get my period after giving birth the first time, but got pregnant again.

my cycles weren't ever regular while BFing, but got extremely regular once I weaned. We got pregnant a couple months later.

I got pregnant. without getting my period back. Was nursing #2 for 16 months when we got pregnant--boy were we surprised. I was 33.

Yes I did not have a period at all until we completely weaned. I was also dry as a bone until we weaned and my temps were always low. I never had any indications that I was ovulating at all. I dropped a nursing/pumping session every two weeks before we figured out it was probably not going to happen until we were done nursing.

Even after I had my period back it took a couple months for my hormones to even out. Took us 3 months to get pregnant from when we weaned.

Ditto, or close. Also 5 & 7 months. Got pregnant while nursing #1 a few times/day twice. First at 16 month pp (miscarriage) and again at 20 months. First try both time (first pregnancy took 2 months) but I was also 31.

No. I had to cut off #1 when #2 was due in a few months because I didn't want any competition for the booby milk.

No. Got my period back both times at 8-9 months, was pregnant a month or two after. Weaned both at 13-14 months.

Nope. No period and still breastfeeding at 8 months when I got pregnant with #2.
