This. My kid graduated from GDS a few years ago. Sometimes the very well-connected are also famous, sometime less so. But often these kids are legacies (or double legacies) plus kids of major donors. But they are also very smart, high achieving kids...it's not that they are not deserving but they are playing different odds than the rest of our kids. |

| Boy - tough crowd. Harvard is clear it still gives legacy preference - for kids whose mom or dad went undergrad to Harvard. Not for grandparents or aunts and not for those whose parents went to grad school. The acceptance rate is definitely higher for these kids. That said, the vast majority of legacies don't get in and they are generally a group of kids whose parents have emphasized education and are generally well off. It's no small feat to get this done for legacy kids - and not all these kids are legacy. |

Disgusting that someone would post this about a specific, identifiable student. Clearly, PP's kid has some sour grapes, but her parent is an incredibly horrible person. I reported the post, but please don't quote it, so it doesn't survive. Absolutely disgusting! |

Total of 7 into Jarvard from GDS…and counting 3 early and four more today that I know of…. I’m a parent of a kid in the senior class a few of the kids are close friends of my DC.
Listen —-I have my issues with GDS but it’s undeniable they are killing it. My kid is not going to an Ivy but got into a top 20 school which was a HUGE reach for our kid(at least going by numbers). There must be a special sauce. I was not a believer going into the process and definitely have many complaints about the administration but…. It’s hard to argue with the overall pattern of success in college placement. Wow. Also all these Harvard kids are not Urm and all are not legacies (a few are) just good super smart accomplished kids so stop tearing them down on this forum. |

| Kinda pissed my kids turned down GDS--not gonna Lie. Didn't want to drive from VA. Had choice of all DC top schools other than Sidwell. NCS, Maret, GDS, etc. Anyway they ended up at decent Ivies though not Harvard. Brown and Dartmouth. Will survive and go to HLS for law school (if they cant get into Yale). |

Agree with you. I’m a GDS parent too - HS but not senior. But had one graduate in last year or two. I will add one caveat to what you wrote - last year’s results were pretty bad compared to this year. I think so much of it is the kids. This class of kids was special. Not just the Harvard kids but across the board. Not that last year wasn’t but there are so many more well rounded academic weapons in this class. Anyway - same CCO, same admin last year but worse results. So much of this is how wonderful these kids are. Congrats to all of them. |

| Crazy that GDS has so many Harvard admits! Doesn’t seem like any other school had ANYONE get in RD to any Ivys last night, much less Harvard. Instagrams very quiet…. |

Can’t speak to any other school, but at ours plenty got in last night and are deciding amongst many options. Most announcements for RD come in the second half of April. |
