Any ideas would help. Thank you! |
Where are you located? Sprout and Romp n Roll in Germantown both have open gym for a small fee. So does Fun Fit in Olney. Barnes & Nobel story time once a week. I think most library's have story time too. Mine loves the car shopping cart at the grocery store. Play areas at Mont Mall, Tysons and Fair Oaks. A metro train ride. Building Museum. National Cathedral family room. My child LOVES going to petco and petsmart to look at the birds, rabbits and fish.
Also try these sites - http://www.aparentinsilverspring.com/ There is also a kids resource website. I think if you do a DCUM search there are five or six other threads on the same topic with ideas. Our park service offers all kinds of free activities, crafts and hikes for 1-2 year olds. |
Where is the national cathedral family room? My oldest is at Beauvoir so we're there all the time - but I have never heard of it. |
Noyes library in Kensington is great at that age. It's only open Tu, Th, and Saturday. Little Gym (or other) class. If you are in Mont. Co. the Parent Resource Centers are a lifesaver. Wonderful. |
Libraries, Jonah's Treehouse (Georgetown), MusiKids (Bethesda), Mommy and Me Yoga....
One is nice because you can bring them along with you nearly anywhere and it becomes an adventure. Some of my favorites: a bus ride, a ride on the Metro, nearly any Smithsonian museum, the US Botanical Garden's Christmas display (with lots of trains), any duck pond, and even the play area at Tyson's if you get there early. Have fun! |
Thanks guys this is great. Regarding the play areas in winter - are you worried about illnesses. I find we are sick more than healthy these days |
I never found it a problem - or at least I was never able to correlate any sickness with a visit to a play area. It used to worry me a lot, but I have three kids now, and I've brought my youngest child everywhere with me and ironically she never gets sick! |
