How long do "growth spurts" last?

Anonymous
So my almost 11 month old has started waking up and needing to eat for the past two weeks or so after having slept through the night for more than a month. She doesn't settle until we feed her and has been taking 6-8+ ounces in the night. She hasn't eaten this much at night for probably 6 months. Before sleep training, she wld wake to comfort nurse or only drink 2 ounces from a 6 oz bottle. She also just started walking. I'm fine feeding her since it really seems like a growth spurt but I really don't want to get back in the habit of feeding her in the middle of the night. Do we just ride it out? How long do spurts last? We let her whine/cry for awhile before we go in. Last night she woke 3:50 and I didn't go in until 4:10. She sucked down 6 ounces and seemed asleep so I put her down then more screaming. Made 4 more ounces of which she took 3. When all was said and done we were up nearly two hours. Any advice?

Two or three days

Really? I would think a developmental milestone as big as walking would take more than 2-3 days to adjust to, but I don't know. Thanks for your input.

Is she doing well with solids? Can you post a feeding schedule for the day? Include solids and milk

Our experience has been more in the 3 week range. Happened at 9 mo and again at 13 mo... Multiple night wakings and feedings after months of STTN. This too shall pass.

You didn't mention anything about solids. If she's only consuming milk/formula, then that's not enough, so she wants more in the middle of the night. If you haven't started her on it, do so. Give her enough food in the evening. A final big bottle of milk before she sleeps.
Walking burns off energy, so she will need to eat more.

She does great with solids. We give her what we eat plus usually either purée or yogurt with every meal. She finally slept through last night so I'm cautiously optimistic that maybe we're coming out of it?
