I don't care where you live. I think it is an obligation. God forbid something happens to you and your neighbors have the same attitude.

You can say this but unless you have lived in Adams Morgan or spent a huge amount of night time there, you might not understand his/her point.
There are neighborhoods in DC ( I live in one of them) where the noise level is higher. People party a lot near the universities for example and Adams Morgan is a huge nightlife spot. AND there are residences right up against these places so you get used to hearing people screaming and hollering and carrying on at night especially. You wouldnt think anything of it and yes we even tune it out some of the time. But where THIS crime happened in Bethesda, sounds of a woman shouting out for help should have been more piercing and worrisome.
Seriously, I would be calling the cops every night too some weeks if I called every time I heard yelling. I HAVE called the cops before too because it sounds more acute or because it seems clear something is not right...but I think I called the most in the first month while I was figuring out the difference between normal nighttime ruckus noise and noise that needs attention from the police. And you have to learn the difference or at least try because otherwise, you wouldnt ever sleep here. And for the record, I LOVE living here in DC. It is just one factor in certain neighborhoods.

I just want to point out that this is a forum, not a blog.

Sorry for the off topic post.

Sorry for the off topic post? Wow are you that obnoxious? Did that make you feel better toclarify? P.s. It's the same thing but I'm sure you will beg to differ.

Whoa hold on, I wasn't trying to be mean or snarky or anything like that. I've read this entire thing and I hope they solve this murder and my heart goes out to the victims and their families.

But I just wanted to point out that this was a forum and not a blog, that was all. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, this thread is in the Off Topic forum and what I replied with was off topic within this thread, so I put that. It didn't make me "feel better", now you're making me feel bad for trying to clarify a term. I wasn't pointing fingers at anyone, calling anyone out, laughing, etc.

NP here. Um, no, it's not the same thing. You have a lot of attitude for someone who is completely wrong.

As someone else below said, when someone is raped the media/police often say "sexual assualt" versus rape. But besides that, based on the definition provided below in the link, the victim would have had to articulate the "other things" (that classify as sexual assualt) - which clearly wasn't possible in Jayna's case. Also, I have been following this story very closely because it is so upsetting to me and the police did not say she had been sexually assualted until after she had the autopsy.

I am so saddened to read that there are some people that feel this was an inside job.

The Bethesda police chief said it was rape.

The Washington Post and NBC4.

Is sexual assault always rape?

No, it can mean a lot of things.

Here is the definition:

If people say its an inside job, it helps to make them feel that it wasnt random and couldnt happen to them

Who knows if it was or wasn't but quite frankly there is a lot about this that makes anyone think that! And I am wondering how they could have entered seconds after the women did when she had to turn the alarm off. Where is the alarm in that store. Has anyone thought about that?

Ugh is this another post from the same person or another ignorant poster. I think most women know it could happen to them and I am one of them! But you are ignorant to think that it might not be an inside job. EVERYONE is talking about that now, not just the "delusional" people you are referring to.

News report just now talked about past big reward amounts that didnt help catch the killer- that's depressing. He gave the number to text for tips so fast I wouldnt be able to write it down even if I had a pen in hand and was paying full attention, it was also kind of long . They should make it easier .

I have definitely heard about this person not calling from the Apple store on this blog but is it hear-say? No news center I have tuned into has said this nor the police? Where are you getting this from?

Hi, I posted about this a few pgs back, it was reported on ABC7s evening broadcast. I haven'T Heard it from any other source though.

I read in an article that it was a "nearby business" but they did not say which store it was.

PP here, should be clear that ABC7 also sited the "nearby business", no mention of Apple store.
