I'm 3 days pp and BF'ing my newborn. I had tons of issues nursing my first - horrible engorgement (some this time but not so much I can't get anything out like before), had to supplement immediately and usually after nursing, etc. I'm about to leave the hospital and waiting for the other shoe to drop! Anyone just have a better experience with #2 for what seems like no reason? |
There is a reason -- you "prepped" your breasts the last time, and this time they know what they're doing (seriously).
I also supplemented for the first week or so with #1, but had no problem with #2 and #3. I also think you're just better prepared mentally for the fact that you're a 24-hour breastaraunt, and you relax about it more. |
My first experience breastfeeding was extremely painful. Number 2 was a walk in the park! |
I'm another who had a lot of trouble breastfeeding #1, but found that breastfeeding #2 was easy -- I better knew what I was doing, already had more sources for support, and #2 was a less sleepy, more interested in latching baby. |
So much easier and much less painful. |
Yes. Only lasted 5 weeks with number one (mostly pumping) and going strong at 7 months with number two. |
New poster also interested in hearing this! |
This just made my day. |
soooooooooooooooooo much easier. i definitely knew more what to expect and had lined up support since i had such a difficult time with#1 (lasted 5 weeks). i was using lanolin from the beginning in the hospital so i never got as raw as i did the first time. also baby actually latched and wanted to nurse unlike my first. we still had some challenges with a tongue tie and not great supply, but i'm still nursing (a little) at 9+ months so i'm pretty proud of myself.
my advice: get help early and often! |
