Parents of SPD kids - do your kids show excitement?

Anonymous
This is probably an odd questions but - my DD (age 7) has never been diagnosed with SPD, but I believe she has had SPD-like issues for many years now. I don't think she is severe, so never took her for evaluation. In any event one thing I have noticed is that she never really gets very excited about things. Like going to a party or getting a gift, or seeing someone she hasn't seen in a long time. I generally figured this is a personality trait, but wondered if this is common among SPD kids? It doesn't take much to get her upset (very sensitive), but it takes a lot to get her excited. I'm curious what you think...

This question deserves an answer -- so I will get the ball rolling. OP, I think you're on to something. My son does not get very excited about things or he does not get excited about the things that I think he would get excited about. So opening Xmas gifts recently was not terribly important to him -- he preferred "playing" the guitar that he had lying around from before. I think taken by itself the not getting excited about things may not be indicative of anything, but looking at the "big picture" that your child presents it may be a piece of the puzzle, if that makes any sense. Would anyone else chime in?
