Can anybody provide a general ballpark? I am trying to evaluate if I should buy a house with two windowless rooms. |
What is the house made of? Wood frame? Brick? Medieval limestone? |
Cost of windows anywhere from $350 to $3,000+ depending on size and material (vinyl vs wood), then where and how it needs to be installed. We put a Home Depot vinyl window $1,000 (high end) in the basement and had to cut thru brick. Total job was REALLY messy (brick particles floating through the house) and cost us approx $3,000 for one window (labor+parts). |
I added 2 anderson 300 series 5.5' X 3' windows to my master bedroom and it cost $3850 all in. They had to cut the hardie plank siding. Add trim/paint/cleanup. |
Can you recommend your contractor? |
Who did you hire to install? Home depot? Carpenter? Need to replace an attic window and thinking of changing to double hung andeersens - don't need the highest model version but still want it to look nice. Not sure if I should just hire HD or buy the windows myself and hire a carpenter to install. Looking for advice. |
I spoke to my home builder and he got the sub-contractor who framed my house to handle the job.
And I was wrong earlier. They are Anderson 200 series. There is no 300 series. |
12:34 here.
The guy who framed my house/added my windows is: 703-928-7977 jorge campos <camposconstructionllc@yahoo.com> Like I said earlier, him and his crew were very professional and did what appears to me as quality work. Give him a call. |

My last home had wood siding and I think I paid just $700 per window installed. That was 10 years ago, but the handyman said it was an easy job through wood siding.
Try Bryant Construction Co. they also did a window for me recently but charged a little more. 301-926-9004 |
Thanks! |
If it's a brick house, it will cost you substantially more than $700/window. And, I would not get Home Depot to do. You need to put in a metal header by an experienced pro. And, might even want to have an engineer look at it. |
