"Abner"
It is a family name, which matters to us, and we would like it to be a first name rather than a middle name. Middle name would be "Louis" or "Charles". Last name Washington. I am only asking because I don't like the potential for the nickname "Abbie" for a boy, plus it is pretty out there. |
No. The comic strip "Li'l Abner" immediately comes to mind. A hick name. |
I don't like it. It sounds old-timey Grandpa. Sorry, OP. |
I think it's pretty cute for a little guy. You'll need a solid nickname for when he gets a little older. Even "Ab" would be fine. |
I like Abner. I like Charles Abner Washington better. |
I love Abner Louis! |
You got pretty lucky with the last name Washington. Pretty much can't go wrong with that.
I think Abner works well with that. |
How about Daniel Abner? He could still go by Abner if if is important to you, but it flows so much better as a middle name. |
If you must use Abner for a first name, try initializing it.
A. Daniel Washington. I have a lot of friends who have done that because they despise their first name. Also, it used to be common to have two middle names, so you could do Daniel A.B. Washington, etc. |
I love it! go for it! |
Hate it. It's terrible. Abner would be teased relentlessly. |
WOW!!!Funny! Both my grandfathers are Abner and Louis!!!
I happen to like Abner a lot (Aby for short.) Classic and old fashioned. Go for it! |
Sounds fine to me. |
5:42 here.
OOOps, just read that you do not like Aby/Abby as a nickname...still like the name, and then just use Abner (minus nickname.) |
Oh no. No no no no no. Poor kid. (it's fine as a middle name) |
