Please tell me some of your favorite songs

I have a friend who is turning 60 and I am going to make him a disc of music.

If you are around this age, can you please tell me some of your favorite classic tunes from the 60's and 70's?

Thanks!

Why 60s and 70s? Today's music is just as good as earlier rock. Nickelback, Bruno Mars, and Pink are very good. Also, mia culpa, but I like Taylor Swift as well. Find out what genre of music he likes and then find today's equivalent.

Today's lyrics, voices, and instrumentals are just as good as the 60s and 70s, and the recording and sound fidelity are better.

Do Ya (ELO)

Harvest Moon Neil Young

That's because you're lost in space.

I'd like to be lost in space with Major West:

Stevie nicks, fleet wood Mac, pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Neil Diamond, American Pie (brain malfunction and can't recall artist at the moment), Queen, not a fan, but Boston was popular. Kansas. Meatloaf.

What kind of music does your friend like?

The fact that you are posting here for recommendations is troubling. A "mixed tape" as we used to call them is a very personal gift. At a minimum, the person making it has to have a clear idea of the actual songs that the receiver would like. The songs have meaning. They're connected in some way.*

There are so many genres of music from any time period. You should already know what your friend would want to hear if you are going to make a "tape" or cd. If you have to ask for suggestions, then it's not the right gift. I don't mean to be rude. Just being realistic.

*For a more complete explanation of this, watch a great movie with John Cusack called "High Fidelity."

Yes, I already have many picked out that are meaningful. Looking for some artists I might not have thought of that would make me say, "oh yes! Why didn't I think of that..."
