How and where can I learn home improvement/construction skills?

I have seen the Home Depot workshops and plan to attend whenever possible. Are there other places that do home improvement and renovation classes? I'd really love to learn and improve on some basic skills - tiling, flooring, painting, etc.

Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity. They will put you to work with people who know what they're doing (mostly) right away. And the price is right.

Look for the adult ed classes in your area. I know Fairfax County and Mongtomery County have many trade related classes in night school. They're not free, but not expensive either.
