What are some things that others think are desirable that you actively do not want?

Fake nails or gel nails. Also fake and how do you get any work done! Lots of money and so much maintenance.

Do you realize that gel is just a kind of nail polish that sets under UV light? I get gel manicures but my nails are very short a they just look like they have polish on them except it lasts a lot longer. Gel nails do not equal fake nails.

Yes. Thatā€™s why PP wrote ā€œfake OR gel nails.ā€ Two items. Get it, or have all the salon fumes killed all your brain cells?

Going on a cruise. Not interested.

What a great word! Had to look it up, but I will be using it - it describes so many things (especially in this area).

Anything "bucket list" - having to go to the latest places, do the latest things.

Ex: Cartier watches, anything that says "my husband cheated on me and this is what I got".

Also, DH loves his Tesla, but I think they are douchey. He knows how I feel.

I am sorry nothing says douchey louder than a RANGE ROVER or that ridiculous Porsche SUV!

This. In so many ways this. The $$$, time and missed opportunities to do other things. Looking around you see there are thousands upon thousands of other kids doing the same thing and wonder what is it all for. Sure some, a very small number, are truly exceptional athletes but most are just very good at their sport because that is all they do. Not for us.

Designer bags. I have never cared about a bag/purse.

You will never understand...how some people like to spend time golfing, playing tennis, or swimming with their friends?

Here we go again. Itā€™s fine that you like your club. Why so insecure about it? I like some of the other things people mentioned here. Itā€™s cool.

DP. Thereā€™s a difference between ā€œitā€™s not for me, I donā€™t value things so I donā€™t want it ā€ and ā€œI will never understandā€

Not a huge difference (NP). I don't understand it either as it is a lot of money. You don't need to join a country club to engage in shared activities with friends.

Itā€™s a big difference. And no you donā€™t. But in most places, itā€™s the only way to play a lot of golf and tennis. If you donā€™t enjoy those things then no, itā€™s not for you. I would never join a social club because I donā€™t enjoy parties and small talk. But I understand why other people might like that. Itā€™s just not for me.

I grew up in BFE and there are lots of ways to play those sports and NOT join a country club. Sorry, you're just blowing smoke.

Its just an expression. That poster doesn't literally mean they "don't understand." You don't need to EXPLAIN it to us.

Apparently I did.

Wanting to live in a dirty American city. I can appreciate a nice clean city in some foreign countries but our cities are gross and dangerous.

What is the chip on your shoulder about? Iā€™ve lived in BFE places too and thatā€™s not true. Youā€™re weirdly committed to this.

Actually, they wrote "Fake nails or gel nails. Also fake and how do you get any work done!"

It is possible to have real nails with gel polish on them that are short. Get it.
