Yes, another name thread. I'm generally a pretty indecisive person so settling on a name is tough. I have a one syllable last name so prefer longer names with nicknames. What do you think of the list below (most of them are family names)? Any suggestions along these lines? I'm running out of time!
Katherine (Kate) Eleanor (Ellie) Josephine (Josie) Lucia or Lucille (Lucy) Alexandra (Alex) |
Eleanor or Lucia |
I like them all. Eleanor (Ellie) is very, very, very popular. Many girls named Elle and Ella are also nicknamed Ellie so that makes for a whole lots of girls called Ellie. |
Nice list! Alexandra or Josephine would be my favorites. |
Katherine or Alexandra. I would spell it Catherine, though. I think it looks prettier. |
They're all pretty! |
Josephine is my favorite. Josie is such a cute nickname. |
They're all nice but I would skip Eleanor for the reasons PP cited above. Just about every other girl I meet these days is nicknamed Ellie. |
My DD has a Josie, Ellie, Alex, and Kate in her class. These names have been popular for a while as my DD is 11. I do not not like Josie or Alex for names. I like the name Katherine and it is beautiful not using a nickname. Eleanor, Ellie, and Lucy are very pretty even if popular. |
I've got an Alexandra/Alex so I'm partial to that, but I really love Lucia too! |
I'm not a fan of nicknames (I go by one and it is annoying to me to correct people and to try to figure out when I can use my nickname rather than my legal name on a document). But, aside from that, these are all solid choices. |
I love your choices. Our DD will be Josephine, so I love that, but Alexandra and Catherine were on our short list too. Agree that Eleanor is getting a bit popular, especially with all the similar sounding names like Ella. I like names that have gravitas, but also have sweet and strong nicknames. I love that Josephine can be Jo or Josie and Alexandra can be Ally or Alex. Gives kids lots of freedom as they grow. |
I was told there are a lot of boys and girls named Alex in each age group right now.
I like Katherine and Josephine. |
Katherine, Josephine, Alexandra |
My daughter is Eleanor, and I absolutely love her name. She has a different nickname--not Ellie/Ella, and no one's ever called her either. |
