I know there are two programs in Chevy Chase - at the rec center and at Livingston Park. We were looking for feedback from anyone who has sent their children or is currently sending their kids to these coop programs.
Thanks. |
If you haven't already done so, I would try posting on the Chevy Chase Community Listserv: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ChevyChaseCommunityListserv |
My son didn't go there, but I've observed the head of the program at Livingston Park--I would definitely NOT send my kid there. She's mean and yells at the kids. I saw her make 20 young kids (6-10) be "punished" for horseplay this summer. They had to sit in a row along the fence and not move or say a word to each other for about 15 minutes. If they so much as looked at another kid, she started screaming. She is an urban cruella deville, imo. |
Are you sure this woman is in charge of the co-op? The co-op is for preschool-aged children. |
This post is entirely incorrect and OP should disregard it when considering options for co-op preschool at Livingston or Chevy Chase Center:
There's a different woman who comes in the a.m. for the preschool; the woman described above, who is a bit, er, tough and has even yelled at me, isn't the preschool facilitator. |
Miss Martin is the woman who manages the Livingston Park Rec Center in the afternoons/ evenings. I've found her quite helpful in dealing with rambunctious older kids rough housing around the little kids. She has a lot to handle - there are, at times, lots of kids in the park and many are not well supervised.
She's been nice to me and warned me about the recent car break ins. As mentioned before, the preschool is an entirely separate entity in the mornings. |
If you know someone in the community who would like to become a member, ask them to email their name, home address, home and work telephone numbers in confidence, to the Listserv Moderators at: ChevyChaseCommunityListserv-owner@yahoogroups.com |
