Looking for 2-day a week program for 16-month old to start ASAP in Chevy Chase, MD

Anonymous
Hi everyone,

My husband and I just moved to Chevy Chase, MD. Where we lived previously our daughter participated in a 2 morning/week "mom's day out" program. I would love to find something similar for her here. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Look into Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church Weekday Nursery School. CCPC has been around for over 50 years and their teachers are terrific. They have a great toddlers program although I am not sure of the minimum age requirement. Our daughter has really enjoyed their toddler program and we love the school.

I also live in CC and have done a pretty extensive search of the area preschools. Unless I'm missing something, there are no schools that have "mom's day out" programs. I sure wish someone would start some though!

As for the preschools, CCPC and CCBC are the only schools around here that have 1-year old classes, but I'm pretty sure the age requirement is 18-months by Sept. for both of them. Also, unfortunately, they both had long waiting lists for the 1 y/o classes that started this past Sept.

You could also check out the program they have at Bethesda-Chevy Chase HS. I am pretty sure they take kids starting at age 2. I believe it's just from 9-12 and isn't really academic - just basically a play time.

Original poster here... Mom's day out was exactly what I was looking for! I wish they had it here. I couldn't find any information online about the Bethesda-CC HS program. Does anyone have any more info, including contact info?

Thanks!

I too have done a lot of research, and agree that there is no such thing as a Mom's Day Out program in Chevy Chase Md., Chevy Chase DC or close-in Bethesda.

Your only option is to get a nanny for a day or two a week IF you need the time to do errands. Or, I suppose, talk to daycares about very part-time options, and overpay.

If instead your primary motivation is to gain social experience for an older baby, there are several organized playgroups for the youngest ones, but they tend to not be in this immediate area. A grown-up must attend, BTW.

Also, more than one temple in Chevy Chase / Bethesda has a mommy-n-me preschool-type morning, but again, Mom needs to attend. Other preschools might offer the same type of thing (?)

Look at Concord St. Andrews or see if you can find anything from Kenwood Learn and Play. A woman runs it out of her house.

Hi, I am director of Chevy Chase Reggio and we have a 2-day and 3-day programs for all ages. These are full day programs , however, not half days. Our program involves a great deal of projects and children often get upset cutting things short. Our program is based on Reggio Emilia. Please look at www.chevychasereggio.com. We have an open house on December 6 and would be happy to show you our facility.
