I have several friends who work at this school and I was with them last night and was in shock in about what I heard!!!
Fox 5, Kaya Henderson, John Davis and Mayor Grey need to come into the school to see how the staff is being verbally abused and disrespected on a daily basis, especially the second floor from a principal who claims she's a "turnaround specialist". She is crazy and is making these amazing teachers want to stop their dream of being a teacher! She is even excessing great highly effective teachers just because she is so petty. |
What else is new? |
I have heard this as well. Another ineffective leader who instead of collaborating with her staff, leads by scaring and punishing anyone who does not agree with her. Instead of focusing on student achievement she spends her time in her office refusing to be involved in any school matters. She is also known to be extremely disrespectful to parents and staff.
Yep... A great way to get those kids where they need to be... Smh |
I know it's horrible my friends are looking for teaching jobs now and what's worst is the students families love those teachers.....my friends!! What's also a shameis the principal boasted that she's being reappointed...someone needs to look into this place quickly!!! She needs to go!!! |
I find these posts a little suspicious. I am a parent at another DCPS elementary. for much less (crossing some teachers and some parents) our former principal had to resign. I liked her and never witnessed anything improper, but others told me that she tended not to leasten and to be a little harsh with teachers (although she was very involved in the school life and was great with kids). there was a semi revolution lead by the teachers and the crossed parents, and she had to go. here you have a person who is "extremely disrespectful to parents and stuff" and "leads by scaring and punishing anyone who does not agree with her" and nothing happens? why are you all waisting your time on DCUM instead of going en masse to Central Office and oust the principal? |
From my understanding is people have gone to central office and the Union, I have heard about this principal too.I feel bad for your friends, hope they find a job! |
I agree with your post. But if the Malcolm X principal is on the Chancellor's list of "favorites", she's not going anywhere more than likely. |
in our case, there was a threatened exodus of beloved teachers and staff. parents did not just go to the Chancellor. they went to M. Che's office. an elected official is much more likely to listen and respond to her constituents than the Chancellor. it is still hard to believe that with such a widespread base of discontent nothing can be done other than writing here |
OP, are you a teacher at this school? Because if you aren't, then I don't understand why you are getting involved with a supposed matter of how a principal interacts with the teachers.
If you're a parent, you have the right to expect clear communication from the principal and a solid school discipline. But you DO NOT have the right to tell the principal how he/she should instruct the teachers she supervises or what methods of leadership work best. That's between the principal, the superintendent, and the teachers. Let them sort out their issues. You focus on your children. Things work A LOT more smoothly when everyone focuses on their own interests rather than telling others how to conduct their affairs. |
And this is why Malcom X is in the position that its in... This sounds like an administrator speaking |
Are you for real? This is one of the most ridiculous comments I've ever read. |
+1000........ OP stated that his/her interest was how their friends were being disrespected and we know they probably can't speak up in DCPS and not get fired. Valid enough reason to have a concern to me. |
Should read -1000 ![]() |
Finally, some sense at MX, got ride of a detriment to children and staff, Canty needs to go as well!!! |
If it was just that simple, then we wouldn't hire principals we would just elect them to positions. The need to be liked and popular has become the "hot topic" for these type of parents and staff members. |
