I had the test today and am just anxious about it. Has anyone test positive for Group B Strep? What was the outcome?
Thanks! |
I tested positive for it with my second pregnancy and all they said was that I would have to have antibiotics when I went into labor. There were no problems with the baby. |
I tested positive and was told I'll need antibiotics as PP mentioned. I'm due in about a week and am not worried about it. |
Yup. No biggie. You will have an IV and antibiotics during labor. It is very common. |
Ditto. I'll add that I was positive with my first pregnancy (got the antibiotics, no problem), and negative with my second. So, I guess it's something that comes and goes... |
I tested positive - and my labor went so quickly that I was not able to get the antibiotics.
They watched my DS very closely and even without the antibiotics everything was fine. Obviously it is preferrred that you have the antibiotics - but it is not the end of the world if you do not get them prior to delivery. |
My sister-in-law tested positive and had to have the antibiotics and all was fine. I believe if you test positive you need about 4 hours to get the antibiotics...if you deliver too quickly and can't get them the baby can end up staying in the hospital for 10 days. Depending upon your doctor he/she may choose to induce (that's what my sis-in-law did) so that she could get the antibiotics. Check with your OB if you're concerned.
Best of luck! |
