How much to paint 2000 square feet?

Anonymous
We are thinking of having the interior of our house repainted but have no idea what a ballpark estimate might be. Our house is approx 2000 square feet and we would not have the ceilings painted. Any ideas or estimates so we may know what to expect?
Thanks.

Our 1 man shop guy would probably charge about $3k for this, plus we buy the paint. Be he is very affordable. A typical bedroom, walls, trim, ceiling he charges $250 + paint. He is fast, a perfectionist and uses almost no tape.

A big painting company would probably be double.

Probably about $3000 without trim or ceilings.

My husband is a painter and his answer would be "it depends" on the quality of the walls. Let me know if you would like to talk to him.

I suggest checking Craigslist for painters but ask for references and pictures. I think you get what you pay for but we've found that several people do things on the side on weekends (which we are fine with to save money) just to get extra cash.

I've never used Angie's List but other's were happy to see reviews.

We paid about $3500 from our one-man shop for about the same amount of square footage (not including paint)

OP, where are you located. We had our house painted recently and the guy who did ours has a team of about 9 people who do a really outstanding job at a very reasonable price. But he is pretty busy and so you would need to be flexible in terms of getting it done.

You will be pleased with the end result and the price for sure .... we were.

Not the OP, but what type of ballpark are you talking?

We paint it ourselves, took about 4-5 days, 4 adults. My parents were just helping like cleaning and other stuffs.

We don't make a lot of money, so we took two days off, so let say 2 days x 2 adults = $500 for us, so we still saved a lot of money.

Pp, we utilized the weekends to make up the 4 days

Pp, I am keep forgetting, we use a good size paint sprayer. For the middlings, make sure don't be stingy, buy expensive brush and blue tapes. We learned hard from it lol.

So, all in all, I think without my parents help, me and my brother can do it within 4 days, so paying someone with $3000 or more is totally waste of money to us.

I would do it with all the middlings and ceiling for that. I am a handyman and my partner.

Not OP but I am laughing at the idea of my family even entertaining the idea of doing any work on my house. I am jealous.
