So my 17 year old son has a crush on a neighbor. The problem? She's 22 years old!! I'm not sure what to even say or think...he denies it, but his older brother has told me he told him about it.
Any ideas or advice? |
| What's the issue...? It's a crush, and who said she likes him? Let the boy dream. |
|
Get out of his business. Seriously, you don't have a role here and you will only embarrass him. This isn't a crisis, he'll work through it.
The problem you have is the older one snitching out the younger one. I'm assuming the younger one confided to him in confidence. Not cool. |
| My only problem is that she's really nice to him. I don't want her to lead him on and have him get hurt, since obviously she is too old. |
| Didn't I see this post twice in the last year? |
Op here: this is my first time posting a topic on here... |
Yes, but this is not actually YOUR problem. |
| You are one embarrassing mom. He is 17, not 12. Laugh about it and let it go. I would think it's cute. |
|
What you should do is, go over there, and have a talk to her about the situation. Explain that your son is "into" her. Ask her how she feels, and then if she says she's not into him, demand that this little tartlet stop leading on your little ma--
Er, sorry, what I meant is CUT THE CORD!!! HE'S 17!!! |
| OP- we have five kids. Three of them are boys. The two oldest are 23 and 20. If your 22 year old neighbor is even remotely attractive, it would be unusual for your son NOT to be attracted to her. He's 17. She's only 4 years older than he is. |
But what if she IS into him? that's another worry I have. What if she likes him too? Then do I have to call cps or something? |
|
Bahahaha. Please tell me you aren't being serious about cps. Lol i can barely stop laughing. And trust me,unless your son is the hottest boy in the world, a 22 year old is not going to want or be interested in someone who can't go out and drink. I am 27 now but when I was 25, a male friend was interested in the 20 yr old sister of a friend. That relationship lasted about 2 weeks until he realized how much it stunk dating someone not 21. Still laughing though.
|
| Good gracious. Relax. So what if she's into him? That's not a big age difference. Let the boy have some fun! |
|
Lots of 17 year old girls have crushes on older guys, and I am sure vice versa. So cool to date the college guy.
Op - it is just a crush. It may not turn into anything more. If she does seem interested then would be the time to have a conversation about dating someone 5 years older while you are still a minor. If he starts to get obsessed, that would be the time for a conversation too to help him put this unrequited love in perspective. Otherwise let him be a 17 yr old with a crush. |
| The girl is the age of a college graduate and your son is a HS junior? Don't worry, nothing will come of this. She would never live it down. |
