You know what the difference is between "gotcha!" audio/video of liberals versus "gotcha" audio/video of Republicans? Where James O'Keefe and Project Veritas have to go to extreme lengths and deception to trick someone into saying something incriminating (see, e.g. what happened to Jim Moran's son), if you hit record long enough when an R is speaking, he's going to say something really outrageous and potentially career-damaging.
The most obvious example is Mitt Romney's 47% comment -- arguably, that sealed his election loss. Now comes Mitch McConnell with what can only be described as a really nasty rejoinder: http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/04/mitch-mcconnell-ashley-judd-secret-tape-senate Of course, Mitch's reaction to this isn't to issue a mea culpa or apologize for his gross insensitivity to people who have struggled with mental illness (no compassionate conservative here, I guess). No, he's whining that HE is the victim: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/04/09/mcconnell-campaign-opening-fbi-investigation-over-leaked-ashley-judd-tapes/ This is really disgusting beyond the pale. I realize the good people of Kentucky (whom he insulted, too, by the way) will probably still re-elect this sorry excuse for a legislator. But, they really should not. |
Are you so naive? Have you followed any elections? Have you heard of oppo research? Are you just pretentious? |
Bugging is illegal. O'Keefe's stunts may be contrived--but far below bugging. |
The FBI has been called in to investigate. The Senator's voice is not heard on the illegally obtained tape when Ms. Judd's mental health is discussed as part of a campaign strategy meeting discussing opposition research. The DSCC had the same discussions after their opposition research. Way to blame the real victim -- Senator McConnell. Last month, his wife's ethnicity was targetted.
You got a PROBLEM with the Senator. Do not deflect this Watergate style crime. We will not rest until we get to the bottom of this crime. |
PP here. I forget to add you need to go to a mental health professional if you can justify these crimes. I am genuinely concerned you are justifying these crimes as against the people of Kentucky and Ashley Judd who choose to run. There are several excellent psychiatrists in the DC area. You post shows a certain illness I am not gonna discuss here. Get help, please. |
You don't know it's a watergate style crime. It could easily be one of his own staffers who is pissed off. |
Ms. Judd's mental illness is well documented in her OWN autobiography. I imagine the DEMS were the push for her not to run.
She is repeatedly on tape touting TN as home. |
You are absolutely correct. And if it is, we will find out in short order won't we? Let's let the FBI investigate. This is the beginning and the OP was the judge, the jury and the executioner. OP, you do not work for TMZ. You are not in Hollywood. Democrats can't get by on clever cliches and the promise of a free cellphone in every pocket and an amazingly well produced GRAMMY program televised. You OP, are an expendable pawn who has a gift for writing. Why write this shit? |
That was quite an obstacle. I feel badly for her. I do remember hearing she was being asked to step aside in a very polite manner. No matter HOW the info was obtained, Mother Jones are the real villains her protraying people with a history of mental illness as a potential target. We want to encourage people, especially those with political aspirations, to seek treatment or get therapy -- not discourage them. This is a setback. Not cool Mother Jones. Not cool. |
1) Mitch McConnell really, REALLY wanted to face Ashely Judd for a number of reasons. Since she'd a) lose badly, and b) siphen off a shit-ton of money from Hollywood and NYC that could go to winning candidates, which is why Kentucky Democrats also did not want her to run!!!
2) Anyone who is working for MM is committed to MM, period. He doesn't hire amateurs off the street to run his campaigns. 3) Anyone who suddenly decides he's no longer committed to MM wouldn't suddenly leak this. Unless the supposed leaker is independently wealthy or terminal, he or she would never work in the political world again. Are you assuming that his willingness to stab his boss in the back would endere him to a new boss? |
Go do the research. It was the Dems who convinced Ashley not to run. The person expected to win is backed by the Clintons. |
You're all missing the point.
Mitch McConnell staffers really went there about mental illness. That was depraved. That wasn't Mother Jones. I realize Rs like to shoot the messenger, but come on. I have my money on disgruntled McConnell staffer or someone else with access. I doubt anyone bugged the room. If they didn't they wouldn't be so stupid as to leak it. And I'm pretty sure Corn vetted that. The bigger point is the utter depravity of the McConnell camp in its way of thinking. Thought the comment about the newspaper is arrogant beyond the pale as well. |
She chose to consider running for politcal office. Her mental health history is fair game when she choose to consider running for political office. Mother Jones contributed by publishing possibly illegally obtained information. The truth will come out. OP, I am sorry your bonfire was ruined by vanity. |
How do you figure? |
"She’s clearly, this sounds extreme, but she is emotionally unbalanced. I mean it’s been documented. Jesse can go in chapter and verse from her autobiography about, you know, she’s suffered some suicidal tendencies. She was hospitalized for 42 days when she had a mental breakdown in the ’90s." Are you willing to admit that the person qouted here couched his statement and admitted it was an extreme position to take? Hate MM all you want, but is it out of bounds to discuss someone's fitness for office? I think it's fair to say that a campaign that won would not be able to do so by attackiing an opponents mental fitness...lord knows Norm Coleman may have had the best shot...(look it up people). This is why strategy meetings take place, to filter out the bad ideas....which is apparently what might have been taking place. |
