I am not minimizing her success. She has been wildly successful. I just don't think that everyone who is successful achieved that success on talent, including Taylor and many others. I can find 100s of better singers on youtube, talent wise. They aren't wildly successful but when it comes to music talent, they have it. Talent and success aren't directly linked. Just like I don't think the Kardaishains are all that talented despite also being wildly successful. Once you are a product or brand and have success with that product/brand, you can sell anything and it will be bought, no matter what quality it is. Be it an album or a lipstick or a perfume.

This is true and saying so doesn’t smack of “insecurity.”

Some will love everything Taylor does. We are in the fog of Taylor (like fog of war), and only time will tell if the songs hold up.

Taylor has a point with But Daddy I Love Him. How many women are married to absolute losers yet criticize her love life and hold her to some standard of choosing an “approved of” partner just because she’s Taylor.

So, if you're an over 30 year singer/songwriter what should you sing about? Taxes? Mean boss? Kids? Parents who won't babysit said kids or provide financial help? Inflation? Really, what is acceptable?

In Miss Americana she says that people say fame means you freeze at the age you got famous and she thinks that might be true for her. She’s aware that she’s somewhat trapped in a path of irregular development; a lot of her more introspective songs are about how the cage of fame did that to her.

I don't think its just fame that has stunted her- I am convinced that she is neuro diverse- whether ADHD or something else. Her level of output/hyperfocus is super interesting and she's found a way to use it to her advantage. But also (and saying this as someone who really likes her), she seems a little emotionally immature and falls hard and fast (seems manic at times) while also having a super brilliant mind- a common sign of neuro diversity. I am not saying any of this in a negative way at all, her mind is something to be studied!
