The newest family member - Harry Beaver!

pp here- I struggled so hard not to laugh when he told me the name of his newest buddy. He has about a thousand stuffed animals, so it was just a matter of time before Harry Beaver joined the family.

My boyfriend's daughter named a kitten "Phillip."

Okay, why does that make me laugh?!

I don't know if that's you OP but it's the same reason "Murray" and "Cliff" are funny ... or "Buffalo" for a blanket! The random choices that presumably have a deeper meaning are hilarious.

I also knew somebody with a cat named Kevin

Our 4 yr old son refuses to name inanimate objects. He's adamant that only people and pets get names. We think he's a sociopath.

When he was 4, my older son was naming some toy playmobil knights. The best names were "Ring a Ling Ding a Ling" and "Bang Along Banger". He is 13 now but I remember because he made me write them down (because they were so good) and every now and again I come across the paper in my drawer.

Younger son named one of his fish "John Sofera". We can't really tell them apart so as they die he decides it wasn't John Sofera so there can still be a fish with that name. I have no idea where the name came from.

Our kid had a little monster gargoyle toy with lots of horns. Named him "Horny". Of course.

My niece named her puppy Joan. No one knows where she got it - they don't know anyone named Joan.

When I was ten, I named my cat Omar Sharif because I thought he looked Egyptian. I do remember my aunt and uncle loved the movie Doctor Zhivago and I had watched it with them a bunch of times so that’s where I think it came from.

I got a panda for my first Christmas named Peter Panda, and ended up calling it Peem Panna.

A little girl I once took care of called her stuffed toy horse Tuck, and a stuffed monkey Dink.

I love when animals have people names. The Murray and Joan ones on this thread are great.

My friend had a neighbor with a dog named Kevin. I love it because you’d never expect that for a dog. Max, Chloe, Jackson, okay. Kevin? Almost exclusively a people name.

+1 Kevin is a brilliant name for a dog or stuffed animal!
