The counters are all right.

I prefer wood floors.

This is very difficult, unless it is an old house redo with low ceilings. High ceilings/new houses do not support "cabinets to the ceiling", as there is no practicality in that, and such houses usually have spacious pantries to avoid the need for 10-11' cabinets.

Nah. Get 42" cabinets and then use molding or a facade that spans the extra 12". Hopefully your kitchen ceilings aren't 15ft tall (which is more McMansion like than sylish)?

That would look like sh!t.

No it doesn't. I'm a decorator. It's the norm in high end kitchens. And I don't mean high end McMansion kitchens, I mean well done ones.

Thanks, I love this idea. I have existing soffit and nice cabinets. Would you please share the ballpark estimate of adding molding above six cabinets?

You'd have to tear down the soffit and hope there's not plumbing running in it (which is common). It's really a lot of work and most contractors wouldn't do it unless you're getting new cabinets. Also, the paint would have to be matched and such.

if you don't want to spend much $$$, i think you could improve that kitchen with changing the lighting and changing out the white appliances.

Decorator here- I'd do the backsplash. Backsplashes are so cheap to tear out and replace. It's an easy DIY. My kitchen is significantly larger and we spent $200 on a new backsplash including grout and mastic.

And yeah, that space ship fluorescent light fixture has to go.

This looks like a rental kitchen. I'd replace that crazy backsplash with subway tile. Rip out soffit, replace top cabinets with ones that go all the way to the ceiling or add 12 inch cabinets on top. Open up wall, replace the floors with wood. Voila.

Nice kitchen but would look nicer to the ceiling.

The last one posted here was a primary inspiration picture for my kitchen remodel, although with cabinets to the ceiling (we have the standard height cabinets with short cabinets filling the space to the ceiling, with a big crown molding). Creamy white cabinets, while and cream quartz countertop, hardwood floor, island cabinetry is a dark finish. I don't like white/gray kitchens.
