"Going out" shoe with skinny jeans

Anonymous
I would go with a high wedge. It will be more comfortable than a stiletto, but more stylish than a flat.

Stiletto heels look stupid with jeans. There are those on here who would tell you otherwise, but they really do, *especially* if you can't walk comfortably in them, which most women can't.

Get some cute ballet flats.

Depends if you're doing sexy, edgy, trendy, funky, etc. So many different choices depending on your top, jacket, and accessories. "dark skinny jeans" doesn't tell us much. and will they be cuffed or uncuffed?

Unless you're just throwing on your "going-out shirt"

These will show up on the page in all sorts of colors, but I'd only choose black. On-trend and fairly comfortable. Just depends what the rest of you is wearing.

The mid-calf is popular now, but doesn't work on every body type.

I feel like at age 43 this shouldn't even be a question - but can you really walk in those? How far? Do you wreck the toes and heels on the pavement? How do you deal with the non-sitting part of your evening?

I have the same question. My DD wore similar shoes to her homecoming and barely wore them for an hour. These are "sittin' down shoes" as my Nana would say.

You can get shoes like this that are comfortable. OP, I'm loving suede pumps with ankle length skinny jeans this season - camel, black, wine, navy. Check out the Sam Edelman d'orsay pump. I have multiple pairs. Also just got a great pair of tan suede pumps from
J. Crew. Both of these options have better lines than the Nine West pair linked above. And of course, you can't go wrong with a nice ballet flat or suede bootie.

Please don't get heels if you can't walk in them - you look stupid. Block heels are very much in style right now, so go with that if you can't walk in stilettos.

However, I could probably run a 5K in stilettos, and I will continue to wear them. Just because shoes look uncomfortable to some people, and some people don't like heels, doesn't mean you can't wear them. I've always been able to wear heels very comfortably. Flats actually hurt my feet more than heels do.

I'm the 43 year old PP - and I wish I had that skill. I wore what I thought were comfort heels to a friend's wedding - just figured I'd give it a go, for once - and could barely make it across the dance floor to the bathroom without tripping. It's blocky heels (like you said) for me, from now on. But those bigger heels sure do look pretty!

OP back again. Thanks for the lively discussion. They are super skinny, fairly dark jeans with a little fray at the ankle, which is why I'm hesitant to do a bootie which will cover the fray. I'd guess the look I'm going for is slightly trendy (given the fray) and not clueless. I am quite capable of walking in heels, I just choose a more comfortable heel for work since I often have to be on my feet all day and I don't really care if I look fashionable at work (even though they are pretty benign black pumps so I don't think they look awful).
