Mr. Money Mustache may be frugal, but he's high income.

So finally the truth comes out about this guy. I. Would bet good money he was getting paid all along while being fronted by the companies he promotes providing him marketing exposure via yahoo. His numbers Never made sense before. When I see people on this forum mention mmm with cult like reverance, I'm sickened with repugnance. I'm taking solace in the fact I don't have Geico or I'd be compelled to cancel their insurance.

I love my work and will probably work until I die or get dementia.

Same goes for my DH.

So neither of us wants to retire early. We have a nice work/family balance. And we like to buy the things that make our lives easier or support or interests and hobbies. And we can afford it.

We are also saving for that late retirement.

Maybe he hated his engineering job/worked too much? But the truth is he's NOT retired, he's just not traditionally employed. Well, neither am I.

So, I don't see him as being very honest. He's playing semantic games about working and retirement.

This.

Why is this ironic? Haven't you read Millionaires Next Door. A lot of them got that way by saving their money and spending/investing wisely.

Wasn't it pretty obvious from his blog (and the updates to his blog over the years) that it's making quite a bit of money? I think many people (me included) wish that we had the financial means to do other, more meaningful work, but we're unable to quit the jobs we have now because it's impossible to get by making anything less.

He's been covered over the past couple of years in numerous major media outlets, including Fortune and WSJ. I don't understand why some of you are so shocked that a highly popular, highly successful blog and discussion forum can earn a lot of money. Are you 75 and just learning about how this Internet thing works?

I love the ones that post saying they saved thousands a year on their grocery bills by not buying food and as a bonus they are losing weight.

The people profiled in MND were driving cars for longer periods of time instead of buying new ones every two years and living in nice, but not overly expensive houses, not being cheapskates with a holier-than-thou attitude and contributing to a kid's play-date by the pizza slice (and then probably asking for refunds if half the slice wasn't eaten).

hahaa!!!
But... to be fair, both my parents and my inlaws cook HUGE meals. They eat 1/3 and then throw the rest out. They just hate leftovers. The food waste boggles my mind! We aren't stingy or terribly frugal, but we love eating leftovers for lunch or dinner.

What kind of work do you and your husband do?

And don't try and tell me you can do everything just as good at home. Bet the woman hasn't had a Brazilian in her life and she has some mousy brown hair she wears up most of the time. She's probably rather granola. I've also found mmm to be sexist and felt bad for his wife.

She's not, she's pretty cute. And probably really fit- I think she has/had a crossfit habit, not to mention all the hours in the day to use for health/beauty of she wants.
