| I wish they'd do a season with former Survivors. That would get me watching again for at least a season. |
NO. They already had their 15 minutes. If the former Survivors want to have another 15 minutes, then do an All-Stars version of Survivors. I have really disliked nearly every Amazing Race team that spun off from Big Brother and Survivor. The only exception was "Romber" from years ago, likely because of Rob's personality (which I honestly hated on Survivor). |

Did anyone go to the Convention Center today?
Phil was there to do an hour speech and did a meet and greet afterwards. |
|
I guess the show will be back in September after all:

I wish they'd do a season with regular people, maybe some of which weren't that familiar with the show. You know, how it used to be. That would get ME watching again for another season. |
Some of my favorite teams in the past were teams of "not really regular people" but NOT former Reality TV people. Like Flight Time & Big Easy (NBA players) and Anthony & Bates (NHL hockey brothers). |
Phil said no one that has been on the show in it's history is "ordinary". He has said this in multiple interviews you can google. |
| There's a difference between ordinary and regular. Phil is the type of guy who is going to say that everybody has something about them that makes them out of the ordinary. I would say Mary and David, the coal miner, were "regular" people. The aforementioned Team Guido was a couple of regular (gay) guys. I'm running through names in my head, and it's all people from the first 4-5 seasons. They were regular people, not AR superfans, not people from other reality shows, not people with a giant schtick that colored everything about them. Yes, people with different stories/backgrounds, but still regular people you would meet while in line at Safeway. |

Yes, you can be a regular, normal person and still not ordinary. I'd agree that no team on any season I've watched has been "ordinary."
I didn't watch the Family Edition. |
| That is one way to have an equalizer, get nearly everyone to the mat at the same time! |
| I have been a fan for years. However, after the douchy reality contestant casting, I haven't been interested. I watched for the first time this season last night. It was ok, but the constant chatter about some potential romance seemed to fake and forced and solely for the cameras. I have no interest in this crap. |
| I wasn't sure about this season but I'm into it now. Last nights episode had a few really funny moments for me. Now that the bottom few teams are gone, I feel like the pace will be better - more in line with the standard seasons. |
How many of the loud obnoxious teams are still alive? |
Totally agree. I haven't missed one AR, ever, but after seeing this season's premiere, I've sworn it off completely until they take up "regular" casting again. No gimmicks. It's so disappointing, as I used to look forward to my week's fix of AR, but no more. I can't take the loud, braying, fake personalities hamming it up for the camera. Gag. |
Ha! Braying! Great word. I'm the PP you quoted. I watched TAR religiously. I'm so disappointed. |
