At what age would you end opposite-sex sleepovers?

13 yo son's best friend is his "sister" a girl he's known since they were 2. They used to have sleepovers all the time. They don't happen anymore for obvious reasons but we will still allow the occasional sleep under were they'll hang out at each other's house till about 10 - 11pm then go home for bed. She's our neighbor and our families are very close so they're easy to arrange and monitor.

My 11 year old DD has been to a few, and I don't really mind the coed sleepovers given some parent ground rules. I prefer a bunch of kids as opposed to only 2 or 3 kids. The girls generally sleep in the same area and the boys sleep in the same area. Everyone is sleeping in sleeping bags on the floor, which I also prefer.

+1. Looks too much like inviting trouble.

If you are wondering, OP - it’s time to stop.

I was a bit surprised, as none of these kids are near physical or psychological puberty.

Oh well. I guess it's societal pressure.

You don't know what her daughter is doing puberty-wise. My daughter is 10 and her doctor said she'd probably get her period within a year.

+1 I have an almost 11yo 5th grader and they all look like little kids but several of her classmates have already have started period but the boys they are still immature and play rough and tumble which is not a good fit with the girls.

10 year old son and his girl BFF still have regular sleepovers, and they're not stopping any time soon. More precautions will be put in place as they get older.
