This kid has super high score for all. What does DYS mean? |

Wow, how many DYS in the country?
|
| How do you determine the GAI? That score wasn't included in our report |

| The Fairfax Cogat and NNAT percentiles are skewed due to test-preppers in Fairfax. It pushes the scores higher overall due to the preppers gaming their scores and so a non-prepped child is much more likely to do worse in comparison to his "fairfax peers" on the Cogat and NNAT vs a WISC type test, where he is not being compared to (test-prepped) children. |
but parents can still test prep their kids for WISC!! |
Yep! Sadly, it puts undue academic pressure on kids who aren't as bright as they're prepped scores indicate. |

| What? People prep their kids for the WISC IQ test? Is that even possible? |
| How on earth does one prep for an IQ test? Do people take these tests multiple times within year???? |
It absolutely makes sense depending on the child. Let's say she has ADHD, obsessive compulsive, high anxiety, etc. |
It's possible through practice of similar test items, and it's done by those parents who want to artificially elevate their child's score. |
I seriously doubt that prepping would work on the WISC, though I am sure people try. I guess it is not considered "prepping" when people buy brain toys and puzzles to constantly expose their child to stimulating activities ( and sending them to exclusive daycare, etc), but it is called prepping when the less wealthy scrape up the money to expose their children to what they may have missed in the first 4-5 years? I am not familiar with the test prep centers for the NNAT and CogAT, but I cannot imagine any of them being useful unless they are actually teaching the kids through enrichment activities. |
