NP. How can he tell your placenta is in good shape? Did they do some sort of doppler? I'm going to be in similar circumstances. |
+1 I was with the midwives but developed complications in week 38. I ended up being induced and the midwives and OBs collaborated on my care. Both were fantastic. Dr Marko, Larsen, Madkour, and Brillhart were my favorite. |
Some more suggestions in this thread: Are there any great OBs out there? Every option has to many cons ![]() http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/452224.page "I live in Fairfax, I'd love a vaginal birth, maybe natural but not married to it, really want to avoid a csection." "I'd appreciate it if people shared which practice they liked." |
There have been quite a few threads looking for the same thing in recent months. Here is another that has useful suggestions: I want to avoid a c-section, joined GW midwives but got the waitlist. Other Midwife or OB options? http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/448945.page "I want to prevent a csection, so did my research and signed up with GW. They are already full and I am on the waitlist! I want to deliver in a hospital. What other midwife group or even OB group would you recommend would give me the be best to help me avoid a c-section? Things like, how long do they let you labor, push, etc. If you had complications did they jump to c-section or try something else first? General feel of the practice towards birth? In VA the midwives I've found are part of OB groups so I don't know how they work differently than a practice like GW Midwives. Thank you all for your help!" |
They did an ultrasound to measure the level of amniotic fluid and hooked me up to a fetal monitor for about 30 minutes. Fluid levels are fine, baby heart rate is good (even during an apparent contraction I didn't know I was having). Given that, the doc is completely comfortable waiting a bit longer. |
Thank you all for all the suggestions! It's very helpful.
Dr Tchabo sounds great but is he in a group with the same ideas or rotates on call? Thx! |
Hi! Thanks just to confirm last sentence is a typo right? You can or Can't recommend? Also where you at the hospital all 3 days of Labor? Thanks! |
Loudoun community midwives! |
I delivered with WHC midwives. Had a very long labor - told by my doula that I would have been forced into a c-section by other docs. They were patient and skilled, got a vaginal birth, very healthy baby. Had an epi at their recommendation by the way, so they are not anti-intervention in the right circumstances. |
