Her style is peaceful and restful. During the session she has you bring your partner to learn the postures to use in labor and delivery and teaches how to give and receive a foot massage. It is a very mellow experinece.

I thought her classes were terrible, very slow, and very boring. It felt like 3rd grade gym class. I kept waiting for the yoga part to begin. I also don't need 'deep relaxation' for a 1/2 hour at the end of class. Your basically paying to lay down and sleep. I strongly recommend another yoga class.

I can't imagine that the bored student quoted above criticizing Jennifer Moore's prenatal yoga class has ever taken yoga before, whether pregnant or not! Every yoga class I've ever taken has deep relaxation at the end: where are you going for yoga classes that don't have deep relaxation, Ms. Bored Feels Like Third Grade Gym Class? And since when is yoga supposed to be speedy, hyper and thrilling? Yoga is an ancient "practice": it isn't an athletic competition. Good luck, Ms. Bored. It's a good thing you can go to Post-Partum Yoga after you deliver: you and your baby will need some rest, relaxation and rejuvenation by then. 8)

OK, Ms. Nasty. I was simply offering my opinion on the class. I have taken yoga class before, and I didn't say yoga was supposed to be speedy, hyper and thrilling. I would have liked to have felt as though I had done something. I only learned one pose to help with delivery, and 2 yoga poses. I took 8 classes at 1.5 hours each. The rest of the class was wiggling my toes, rolling my head around (along with my eyes) and swivelling my hips. My point about the deep relaxation at the end of the class is: deep relaxation from what? We weren't doing anything even remotely strenuous to need deep relaxation afterwards. I wanted more yoga poses, and more stretching, more labor poses. This is my opinion, and this is the forum for it. There are plenty of people who disagree with me, and that's fine. There are others who agree with me. The class is not for everyone. Let it go.

Get real, Ms. Bored - you weren't "simply offering your opinion on the class" - you were trashing Jennifer Moore for whatever reason, known only to you. If you "would have liked to have felt as though you had done something" during class, I'm guessing you weren't making much of an effort. If you only learned one "pose" to help with delivery, and two yoga "poses" (did you mean postures, by any chance?) you must have been asleep or so bored you fell into a coma and missed the six postures that Jennifer taught during class. Did you also miss the fact that swivelling your hips is important for delivery; or when you are so big you can't even see your feet, and your feet are so swollen you can't feel your toes, remembering to wiggle them might bring you some relief?

You wanted more yoga "poses", more stretching, more labor "poses": did you ever bring that up with Jennifer? I doubt it because she would have explained about the limited number of actual postures that are safe for pregnant women, the fact that hormone fluxuations make stretching somewhat dangerous during pregnancy, and the fact that all of the postures she teaches in Pre-Natal Yoga are intended to assist you during delivery. If you didn't bother to bring up what you wanted with Jennifer, how was she supposed to know? Oh, that old "read my mind" trick, eh? And what makes you think you can only have deep relaxation after some huge strenuous exertion? (Doesn't that sort of go against the idea of prenatal yoga?) You may appreciate what deep relaxation is about if you develop some degree of introspection which, really, is not a bad thing.

Don't kid yourself that you're "simply offering your opinion" like some sweet young thing. You know that is crap. Your comments were mean, destructive and self-righteous, straight out of some Bridezilla-ish, self centered mentality that gives rise to your sense of entitled boredom. Sometimes when you are bored enough you forget to listen because you are soooooo beyond that, right? It just makes it difficult to learn what is being taught, say, in your yoga class.

For real, you are going to be the one who teaches your child to be honest and forthright. If you really were "simply offering your opinion" you could start by "simply offering your opinion": "The class is not for everyone." That statement was no where near your original post. How is it you took 8 classes at 1.5 hrs and you "kept waiting for the yoga part to begin"? Come on, you're way too bright, and too bored, for that mendacity. No, you thought the classes were "terrible" (your words) and you "strongly recommend another yoga class", as yet unidentified. That is not "offering your opinion" that is trashing. You have made this a forum for trashing someone anonymously, without even telling them or letting them discuss and/or respond. Your goal was to damage Jennifer Moore's reputation and business: just be honest about it. 8)

OMG, I wasn't trashing her; I simply don't like her class. You are taking this way too personally. The class doesn't call them postures, they were called poses. And how are you under the assumption that I was in your class? I certainly didn't learn 6 of your "postures" (ya happy now?) I understand swiveling hips helps with pregnancy; I don't need to do it for a 1/2 hour in every class. You're still missing my point about deep relaxation. If you've been relaxing all class, as you claim, why do you need deep relaxation?

I'm not being mean, destructive or self-righteous, but you sure are. I can really see how this class will benefit you. You have a lot of anger. I was looking for deep stretching, and a little bit of strength building to help me with my pregnancy and to bounce back afterwards. You need therapy. This class works for you, and it doesn't for me.

As a safety precaution when looking for a prenatal yoga class, I highly recommend you ask if the teacher is “pregnancy certified,” from where, how many hours and one’s teaching experience. Not all yoga teachers are certified in prenatal yoga and not all yoga postures are appropriate for pregnant women. I had an experience where the yoga instructor was not certified to teach prenatal yoga which I felt it was irresponsible and unsafe. Fortunately, I found a teacher with many years of prenatal yoga experience which was a help and a relief during my pregnancy.

I really like the Sat am class at Boundless Yoga. Small class size, great teacher, clear instruction. I always feel great afterwards.
