Bump |
Has anyone received phone calls from Maryvale french immersion program? |
Any calls about the waitlist for College Gardens? |
Any lottery updates out there??? |
We did move off the Sligo Creek French Immersion wait list but our number was in the low teens. |
bump! |
Move to DC we have several immersion/ dual language public and charter schools |
Um, and a lottery for them as well, no? |
I agree with 22:52. Yes, DC is lottery, but there are a lot more schools that offer immersion than in MCPS. I owned a house in DC, sold it and bought a house in MoCo, but the wait lists are obscene. In retrospect, I should have stayed in DC and pursued options there. I would recommend renting wherever you want to roll the dice, then making an informed house purchase choice if you are lucky enough to get a slot somewhere. |
Any updates??? |
Anyone know what number they're at for Sligo? |
I really wouldn't put any hope on the waitlists. If you applied for kindergarten, they can contact you even a year later, if a spot opens up due to someone moving or deciding to leave that program. After 1st grade, though, they won't take any new kids (maybe they do if the child is already fluent in the language, but they would definitely not take someone without the language). |
Previous post is incorrect.
If you're on the kindergarten waitlist, they contact kids up through January if someone moves or transfers out. Not an entire year. They do accept brand new students in 1st grade who just catch up. There is atleast 1 brand new student because in some cases, K lets in 26, and 1st grade allows 27. I believe starting in grade 3 (I could be wrong on the grade level), the child does have to pass an entrance evaluation, so if they speak the language at home they would have an advantage. |
I'm 10:49. I stand corrected, that is probably the case, they most likely wouldn't contact families after January.
