Anyone else not liking the new Kirkland liquid dish detergent formula?

Not only did we object to the smell and the bitter taste it left on dishes, and especially on plastic items and non-stick pans, it made my entire family sick. TAKE IT BACK BEFORE THE SAME HAPPENS TO YOU.

So glad to have found this thread. It wasn't a bad scent at first, but we're not on our 2nd container of the 2-pack and I've had it.

For those interested: You can use straight vinegar to remove the floral odor from your dished. I rinsed mine in a sink with it (particularly the plastic items) but I bet you can run a dishwasher cycle with vinegar instead of soap and it will rid them of the remaining floral scent.

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll return it to Costoco for a different brand.

Currently trying to choke down my leftovers that were put in a plastic container washed by this detergent. Glad to have found this thread. I will be taking mine back too. Gross.

I thought I was the only one; all my food tastes like perfume; I've been using Kirkland dishwasher and I'm about to throw dishes, soap and machine away. I have cleaned my washer several times and the smell to perfume is not going away, can anyone recommend a better dishwasher soap capable to get rid off Kirkland disgusting trace?

Horrible mistake! We couldn't even make it through the second bottle of this stuff! It just permeates all the dishes and they taste and smell like the detergent. Awful...I had to go to Walmart and buy cascade at a comparable price.

I just found this thread. I have used the Kirkland Liquid Gel JUNK now 2 months. It was ok I thought. The smell of course is awful like toilet bowl cleaner. HOWEVER I just got off the phone with Washington State Poison control who claim the small residue will not hurt-----> THEN she told me I should not have gargled---> at first I just kept drinking hot water made in a clear glass hot beverage cup--- which is stained I see now with teastain. The old powdered dishwashing detergent from Kirkland is what I have used for years-- now this because the powder is no longer available

Poison Control said do not gargle anymore because that is making the problem worse! After she said the residue cannot hurt me--- IT is hurting me--- when I gargle I keep spitting up bubbles--- I do not have any ipecac here and I guess that is not advised with soap-- this nut at poison control kept saying it cant hurt because kids drink this stuff all of the time--- I did not choose to drink this stuff!

The dishwasher dispense I see just now is clogged with a large gel mass---> I have a lot of dishes--- I put these dishes away all intermingled with the others

I think this is a lawsuit! Costco put this stuff on sale a while back-- I was getting low on the powder and tried to buy again-- not available so I went with this

I have a terrible sore throat and the spit is soapy white with bubbles-- its hurts

To those posting on this old, old thread - no one in the DCUM community (which is where this thread is located) cares about your dislike of the Kirkland detergent. You can post all you like but no one who matters reads this thread. You'd be much better off writing a letter to the COO/CEO of Costco and airing your complaints. At least, if you did that, someone who gives a rat's ass and have power to do something might actually do something about your complaints.

The Kirkland Liquid Gel Dishqasher Detergent is so messed up.

We had same problem. I was googling for a fix on our dishwasher and saw this thread, that's exactly what we have, the "new" formula. We're going to return it.

This stuff is disgusting. I have used Kirkland forever. This new formula has a horrible perfume that will not go away. I can't get the smell out of my dishwasher either. I tried just rinsing it 4 times and then twice with Cascade. I'm doing all dishes by hand until I can get the smell out. I soaked all my dishes in bleach - twice - and the plastic needed a third time. I finally got it out with the bleach soak but I mean it soaked for an hour. They were known for store brands and now this, the paper towels that are the size of bath towels just to make you use more, the toilet paper that won't go on the holder. I just don't even go there much anymore. Saving all this money is costing me a fortune.

This is the worst stuff ever! I have used, along with all my extended family, the "old" Kirkland detergent for dishes forever. Just bought this and I hesitated, because I saw they had removed the phosphates, the one thing that removes grime and leaves no horrible taste on dishes. Well, now I have to haul it back to Costco...I will never buy this junk again.
