Well, duh, OP. It's very natural to be happy to be included in a younger and hipper crowd at his age. He should accept every once in a while. Take the shine off.

I don't know why you're uncomfortable with this, or find it borderline shameful.

DH went through this about 10 years ago - the younger work ‘bros’ would give him crap whenever he declined due to child rearing stuff. He did go out w/them every other or month or so. Once they started getting married and having kids it stopped.
