I don’t get on my phone at red lights, but I also DGAF if you honk at me after 1 second. I’m going to make sure the intersection is clear (or be certain that no pedestrians are crossing before I make a turn). I value my and my family’s life more than whether the person 4 cars back has to wait through another light cycle.
Also how can OP even see that the person 3 cars ahead of her is on their cell phone? Impatient drivers are just as much of a hazard as people looking at their phone. Leave your house earlier so you don’t have to be rushed and angry at intersections.
Honest question. What on earth are you doing while waiting at a red light then?
You should be watching the road/intersection and still looking around while stopped on red.
So when the light turns green, you should ALREADY KNOW if it's safe to proceed. You do not need to wait unless there is already an active situation.
You should NOT be spacing out, applying makeup, on your phone.
