Why didn’t you just go to Herndon if you care so much? |
I can't stand facades where the garage door(s) are a major component of the facade. Put the garage entrances on the side, for Pete's sake. |
I’m so confused by the hate. I think this looks like a very nice home for the money! Now I’m self conscious about what my house looks like….ack |
A lot of kids: Westgate >> Kilmer >> Marshall >> NVCC and GMU |
Why the hate? |
I’m sure you’ll be protesting vigorously against the near teardown in Pimmit Hills in order to preserve the economic diversity there. Pimmit Hills is a cheaper version of McLean/FCC, but it’s still expensive, which is why these threads get started every few months. |
Sorry that was rude, I just think it's interesting when people claim they choose an area for diversity, but they only want just the right amount of diversity while still getting a good school that benefits from having a mix of high SES kids. |
The only pyramids in FCPS with more expensive real estate than Marshall are Langley, McLean, Madison, and Oakton, but be fair, that’s what some people in McLean would say as to why they avoided Langley. |
I think the house is overpriced by 300k |
so it's wrong to want diversity and good educational outcomes for my kids? Better for my POC kids to go to school where no one looks like them? |
and Marshall ranks higher than Madison. So is Marshall a bad school or good? You all can't see to decide. |
Why? Similar houses in Mclean are already $3M+ |
Marshall ranks higher than Madison because it automatically enrolls kids in IB English classes. That boosts its ratings. If Madison automatically enrolled kids in AP English courses, it would be ranked higher. Madison has higher SAT scores and a higher graduation rate than Marshall. Marshall is, of course, fine; the point PPs were making is that it's an expensive and not especially diverse school compared to most of the rest of the county. Everyone has their own version of "Goldilocks" where other schools are either too this or too that, but their own school (porridge) is just right. |
Graduation rate is a mostly useless metric now because the minimum bar for getting a HS diploma has fallen through the floor since No Child Left Behind. The only kids that don't graduate at this point either never show up to class or are dumb as a rock and completely incapable of completing very basic assignments. Even kids that are too stupid to pass their coursework usually get multiple chances to redo assignments. The super low-ability kids usually still get their diplomas unless they are also lazy and unwilling to redo assignments/tests. |
Looks like the agent who posted got what they wanted cause it’s pending. |
