There is so much wrong information on this thread... |
Apples to oranges PP. Daycare fulfills a need for childcare. I do not know of any parents, myself included, who would pay the incredible amount of money that daycare demands if the service were not needed for parents to work. And I am grateful that such a service does exist. Attending a baseball game? I would not call that a need in any way. Mom and Dad should and can easily wait a few more months until baby's immune system is more robust before spending hours cheering on the Nats. |
DP. But good lord, can you guys stop judging parents? You have no idea what this mom needs right now. Maybe a baseball game made her happy, or feel human, or reconnect with her husband. Who cares?! Why do you all insist on being like this? |
My cousin didn't need those $2 an hour. So again I ask, is it ok with you that she had her 6 month old in daycare? Does your household *really* need that second income? Have you run the numbers, after second car, expenses from two adults working, being bumped in higher tax bracket, needing to live in a big city where two people can find steady employment, how much are you pulling an hour? Can't you downsize? Do you see how this never ends and how it is nobody else's business? Who else are we going to crap on next, single moms? How about Kate Middleton for having two of her kids too close together according to WHO guidelines? How about people who don't rear face their kids until age 4? There's literally 100 aspects you could pick somebody else's parenting apart over. Guess what? Inevitably you do something that somebody else disagrees with. Should they get to crap on you? |
I’m sorry your baby spent time in the PICU. I’m sure that was anxiety inducing. I had a toddler hospitalized and on oxygen for 4 days with RSV so I get it’s scary. However, an outdoor baseball game in May (which is not even a peak virus season) seems very low risk for catching anything. We aren’t talking about a crowded indoor venue in the middle of January. Also, whenever I go to a Nats game there always seems to be gaps amongst the crowd. I’ve never been shoulder to shoulder with anyone. You seem to be projecting your experience onto something with any relevant facts. |
my german mother encouraged this for milk production |
Was it me? Just had a hard cider and then nursed my 5 week old.
Firstly, the alcohol wouldn’t be in the milk if she was feeding while drinking. Secondly, the amount that would make it to the breast milk from one beer is practically nothing. New guidelines say as long as you are sober it’s fine. I plan to occasionally have a cider or maybe glass of wine and won’t pump and dump. I’m not worried and neither is my doctor. |
Beer or not, at least the mom is breastfeeding! |
I am a guy, and I wanted to say something to her but my girlfriend told me to stay out of it... |
Listen to your girlfriend and stay in your lane. I hope you learned from this thread that your kneejerk desire to police women was based on nothing but ignorance and misinformation. |
I think OP has watched the "milking" scene in Neighbors too many times. OP don't get information about breastfeeding from comedies made by men. |
Ahh an ignorant man looking to find fault in women based on junk science. Charming. |
He’s not the op! He wasn’t criticizing the beer. He was agreeing with someone who said mind your own business. |
Beer is supposed to be good for nursing mother's whereas breastfeeding at a ball game is white trash. |
The question you meant to ask are "Why are Women..." a sip or 2 will not harm the baby! MYOB |
