Bored… what should I do with my evenings?

I do the same. The problem is that I should clean up the house (productive) or read/hobby (pleasurable, enriching), but I end up scrolling on my phone "researching" things and watching YouTube videos on my TV.

Forcing myself out of the house has worked. Can you sign up for free library workshops or enroll in a paid hobby class?

I think being social is the best for your situation OL. (if you want that).

What family lives nearby ? In-laws? Or maybe ask a neighbor if she would like to go for a walk in the evening?

I play pickleball 2 nights a week.

I hike 1 evening a week

But really I’m bored at night the other 4. I’m trying not to drink wine and eat a lot.

I do sports on Saturday for my child which takes a chunk of time

I don’t work, and even I can’t relate to this. Do you make dinner? That’s what I do in the evenings. I also drive my kids to/from practices/activities. 3-7pm is the most harried time for me. I like to read at night and watch a show if I have time.

+1. I have 4:30 until 7:30 free three days a week and half of Saturday and all of Sunday. I should clean more, but I never feel like it. I should take the kids new places, but they like playing with the neighbors. I end up watching TV the whole time. DH encourages me to find something I like. Nothing really moves me. I work full time at a mostly WFH job that pays well and I like. I already have a post-doc level of education. Maybe I’ll try pickleball.

I have a kid in college and another in high school and high school kid sometimes doesn’t need to be picked up until 7pm and I don’t work and I can’t imagine having nothing to do. Of course, I spend a lot of time cooking pretty elaborate meals, gym, gardening, cleaning, laundry, reading, socializing. I rarely watch TV. There is always something to do at home unfortunately. There is really never enough to do fun stuff by the time I’m done with all the chores.

Same like where is my motivation? It's totally gone.

I'm similar to you OP, but I don't really mind. I keep up with the laundry during this time and watch lots of Dateline and 20/20, lol. Walk the dog. Research vacation destinations, etc. I am a teacher's assistant so much work day is done at 2:30pm (go in at 7am) and I don't have to do any work at home.

I would enjoy cooking dinner, groceries/errands in a leisurely way, exercise, meeting a friend or neighbor for a coffee or glass of wine.

I have the same question. Do you have a job during the day? I'm sure plenty of businesses need help from 3-9pm, even if you don't need the money.

I do. I work PT, roughly 9-3 Mon-Thurs. I don’t need to work FT but I do enjoy my job and colleagues.

OP here. So glad I am not alone!

Me: golf, hike, garden, paint, read, write fiction for fun, cook or bake something new, take a long spa bath with facial, get out the DLR camera and play around with a theme (bees, trees, patterns, still lifes, macro, the cat), puzzles.

New poster. Those of you who say volunteer, where do you suggest volunteering in the evenings?
