Men B vaccine before college?

When I was in college there was a meningitis case in the dorm we shared a cafeteria with so we all just went to the health center and got it done. In hindsight totally would have gotten it before school. The kid who got meningitis was incredibly sick and had to take a semester off, though he recovered okay. I had a sore neck after the shot but nothing bad. Very glad I got it done.

Yeah I was surprised how laissez faire the dr is/was about it. I think meningitis is so rare but obviously so dangerous too.

Yeah, it's very dangerous. Also often misdiagnosed, even in ER and college aged kids, as just the flu or any virus. Issue is it can turn deadly very fast. Not something to mess with IMO. So both my kids got it summer before college and booster over xmas break

Thanks. Good to know. Any side effects? Just asking to make sure I don't plan it around senior events.

DC isn't a senior yet, but attending a summer program at a college next month. Would you be worried about an outbreak at a college summer program?

No

Only 27% of kids get this shot.
