Getting jobs in Huston offices of desirable companies is very easy if you are a Rice grad, you can transfer within company to more competitive cities later. |
Apples and oranges. Both are good schools but one is a huge public and other is a small private, completely different experiences. |
And don't forget Sports Management! Number one school in America for that major. MIT and Stanford looking on in envy. |
Most of my children's friends were auto admit to UT Austin yet no one who got into T20 schools like Rice, went to UT. Only reason some full pay students do is because cost of public is more affordable for families, obviously doesn't matter for wealthy. It also doesn't matter for families with less than $180K income as aid is generous at Rice. Rice is a consolation school for ones who don't get into Ivies. |
Rice has some merit and athletic scholarships so full pay families whose kids get those, often pick it over ivies and top SLAC. |
UT Austin is awesome for the cost and so bug attraction for ones interested in greek life and large athletic events, also Austin is more fun than Houston. |
UT has an average SAT of 1355, Rice has 1505.
For 75% percentile, Rice has average of 1560 SAT while UT has 1470. |
Cornell is an ivy but people who care for Ivy factor, doesn't care for Cornell. |
Cornell is will remain an Ivy proper no matter how to try to degrade it. |
Rice is as hard as any other Engineering school.
|
Rice. No question |
Ummm no. UT is harder to get in if you are aiming for Turings or Dual CS/Business. If not, Rice needs much more. |
Isn't OPs kid into econ? Rice does well in IB placements - but many state flagships including UT Austin with lower tuition do better. UT Austin, but not Rice, is one of the target schools along with Harvard, Princeton, UPenn, Columbia, Dartmouth... https://www.peakframeworks.com/post/ib-target-schools |
Not so hard after a hot water soak. |
If you are good enough to get into a school even if on athletics or legacy seat, they help you graduate if you want to put in some work. |
