My normal routine would be about 4-5K steps. I take walk almost every day so that ends up being about 8K most days. |
Sounds like a walk with a lot of stops for the dog. |
1k to 5k on a normal day
It takes me 1 hr to do 10K where do you guys find the time. I play 2 hrs of pickleball 3x a week and don’t track that. |
I thought 3 miles=6,000 steps. Is this to say you cover 5 miles in an hour? Are you running? |
DP, I think a good rule of thumb is 10 minutes of walking for every 1000 steps. |
Pickleball is not very aerobic. For 2 hours, I guarantee you're mostly just standing around. I get 15k-20k most days, and work full time (in person, not at home). I exercise in the morning most days, clean my own house, do my own yardwork, and just in general try and move more throughout the day - it's really very easy to rack up steps if you make a conscious effort to be active throughout the day even in small ways. |
Ok, for those super steppers on here - does it help keep your weight down? I average about 11K a day and would like to bump it up. |
I'd say I get about 7k-12k depending on the day.
Many studies have shown that aiming for 7k and being consistent is the best thing you can do. |
10k...
today I'm walking for 20 minutes after work, then taking a circuits class, then 15 minutes after supper (supposed to help lower blood sugar) and calling it a day. I'll get up to about 5k during work. |
You have a very lazy dog. |
I get about 5000-7000 on an average day. I like to be still and never needlessly bustle around. I do work out with weights about 4-5 times a week, yoga once or twice a week, and do a short walk outside pretty much every day. I'm 46, healthy weight, and good health. I have two teenage kids and a full time job.
But all of these high step counts are making me feel bad about myself, so I thought I'd share my measly step count in case anyone else is feeling similar. |
That’s only 6000 steps for men and 7000 steps for women. These people getting 20,000 steps are walking for over two hours a day. That’s wild. |
Steps matter zero when it comes to weight. It's all about your diet. Yes I can do 20k steps but if I'm eating too many calories that day, it doesn't matter. It's shocking how many people don't realize this. |
I thought I was getting between 7-10k steps a day based on the Oura ring I wear. Then I got an Apple Watch a month ago and found out it’s more like 4-5k. I’m like you, full time job, two kids and 47. I work out most days and walk a mile every day. Don’t have time to walk as much as the others on this thread. How are others getting their step count? |
I love the Oura ring for sleep. But agreed, think the numbers are inflated for steps. |
