And what type of person is that? |
I always make sure to tell them they need to bring someone to help them carry things. |
I gave away a player piano last year. So many people responded thinking they could move it themselves or “with my girlfriend” even though my post was extremely clear about it being heavier than a standard piano and there being half a dozen steps down the walkway from our front door. |
The kind of person who isn’t smart enough to get a job that pays enough to buy stuff. |
LOL. I literally just gave away a futon, and the people showed up in a tiny SUV. They were outside my house for at least an hour trying to figure out how to get it in their car.
I really hate when people think you're going to help them move something you're giving away for free. |
Buy Nothing is wild! People in our town will give away partially eaten boxes of cereal. |
You sound tiny minded. And not too smart. |
+1 I have fantasies that are “big strong rugged stranger with a truck helping me move a mattress”…. yeah, that’s hot. |
I swear that over 50% of the people who claim items over and over don't even live in the neighborhood. |
I posted an occasional chair on a Buy Nothing group. I DM'd the person who claimed it to coordinate pick-up (usually I just leave curbside at a set time). She didn't have a car. |
We’ve rented vans for pick ups. But you’d be surprised what my hatchback can haul over multiple trips. Being single has offered me a special skill set! One if them is def knowing when to recruit help.
You might add need large vehicle and 2 people for pickup to your posts and follow up when confirming. I’d never hold more than a day or two. |
I use BN a lot to both give and receive and have almost only had positive experiences. If I’m giving something big/bulky, I ask requesters to describe plan for pick-up in their comment to be selected (when, who will they bring, do they have an appropriate size vehicle) and I select based on that. |
lol. Yep! No open food please? |
That's kinda redundant... |
Ours gives away several days open seltzer half gone. |
